Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport Transformation Programme – Terminal 2 Redevelopment
ST1 Group has been proud to play a key role in the £1.3 billion Manchester Airport Transformation Programme — a ten-year development that is reshaping the future of Terminal 2 and positioning Manchester as a major European aviation hub.
Working alongside NG Bailey, one of the UK’s leading MEP specialists, our team has provided comprehensive Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying support across both airside and landside works. Our remit has included procurement of trade subcontractors, commercial management of multiple work packages, and navigating a high volume of change management processes across this complex, live operational environment.
ST1 Group has been instrumental in managing cost control, agreeing valuations and final accounts, and undertaking detailed cost value reconciliations to accurately track spend and forecast project outcomes. Our expertise supported the critical opening of the new security hall — featuring ten screening lanes and state-of-the-art equipment — in time for the busy May half-term period. This milestone marked a major step toward completion of a terminal that now more than doubles capacity and will eventually serve over 70% of the airport’s passengers.
As the project moves into its final phase, the redeveloped Terminal 2 combines world-class engineering with premium passenger experience, including 13 new aircraft stands, chandelier-lit walkways, and an impressive range of retail and hospitality outlets such as champagne bars and flagship Northern brands.
