Cambridge Homeowner Expert Witness Report
Expert Witness Report Uncovers Over £100,000 in Defective Renovation Works
DRS were appointed by the Claimant, a homeowner, to provide an Expert Witness Report concerning extensive renovation works carried out at their residential property. The homeowner had engaged a Contractor to undertake significant refurbishments; however, as the project progressed, it became evident that the work was being carried out to a substandard level, ultimately leaving the property in a state of disrepair.
Following the termination of the Contractor's agreement, DRS were instructed to assess and report on the following:
-
The extent of defective or incomplete works, including any deviations from the agreed contract.
-
The estimated cost of rectifying the identified defects.
-
An evaluation of what would constitute a reasonable value for the services actually provided by the Contractor.
DRS conducted a comprehensive site inspection, quantified the completed works, and developed a clear scope and cost for the necessary remedial works. The investigation concluded that the value of the defective and incomplete work exceeded £100,000, forming the basis of the Claimant’s case to recover losses incurred due to the Contractor’s poor performance.
